There is one thing Emmerdale’s Dawn (Olivia Bromley) cannot abide by and that’s lies.
Having learned of her dad Will’s (Dean Andrews) flippancy with the truth around Rose (Christine Tremarco) she completely cut him off to protect her family. So how will she react when she learns of husband Billy’s (Jay Kontzle) fresh deception?
Billy’s behaviour has been a bit questionable of late, with Will even suspecting him of being his blackmailer.
He and Dawn left Home Farm after the shocking revelations around both Rose’s appearance and subsequent disappearance. They moved their family into Holdgate and stumped up the princely sum of six months’ rent up front – or £10,000.
They might be part of Kim’s (Claire King) clan but neither of them are flush with cash, and they certainly wouldn’t have accepted any handouts. Where did the cash come from?
The young couple also now have their own house’s running costs to pay for, as well as funding their lifestyle with their three kids. Does this push Billy into a new dark world?
Dawn comes close to discover that Billy is hiding a secret when she finds a fresh wad of money hidden away. She confronts him, but he casually shrugs it off as savings with which he has been waiting to surprise her.
Usually, Dawn has an inbuilt lie detector, but it seems to be having an off day as she buys his lie and walks off, satisfied.
But as she leaves the room, Billy hurriedly makes a mysterious call. He begs whoever answers to give him more work, clearly in need of the cash. Has he got himself involved in something dark to make a quick buck?
And what need for cash would make him risk his marriage by lying to Dawn – surely if it was just living costs, he could have an open conversation. Is there something more sinister going on?
