‘I don’t want to die’: Emmerdale legend gets devastating diagnosis
Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) has received a horrific diagnosis in Emmerdale.
Viewers finally have an answer as to why the soap legend has been dealing with troubling unexplained health issues recently, including a seizure which saw her fall into step-son Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), giving him the impression that she was trying to lean in for a kiss.
She then went on to cause a raging inferno in a barn at Butler’s Farm.
Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) had called round to taunt her over the Nate situation when she noticed that Moira began behaving oddly out of character. At one point, she began seeing and hearing villainous Emma Barton – believing she was in the same room as her.
After spilling tractor fuel all over the ground, she then aimed a shotgun at Ruby, with a spark from a bullet causing flames to surround them.
During a scuffle between the two women to get control of the weapon, Ruby was knocked unconscious.
Their family raced to the scene, and unable to bare the thought of his wife perishing, Cain (Jeff Hordley) charged in – against sister Chas’ (Lucy Pargeter) advice – and rescued her.
The two walked through the flames with a blanket over them as a massive explosion knocked everyone outside off their feet.
We were left wondering whether the two would make it out alive, but tonight’s episode confirmed that they were safe.
Moira and Ruby were hospitalised, as was Will Taylor (Dean Andrews), whilst John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) was forced to consult Dr. Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) in The Woolpack.
In the corridors, Cain sat alone, unable to face Moira. He still believed that she’d cheated with Nate, and was encouraged to go into her room by Chas.
Elsewhere, Ruby mentioned to husband Caleb (William Ash) about her behaviour in the moments leading up to the devastating incident, and remembered her mentioning Emma.
During a difficult conversation about her future, Moira began suffering a seizure and after a scan, it was confirmed that she has a mass on her brain.
Unable to find the words, she declined to tell son Matty (Ash Palmisciano) and brother Mack (Lawrence Robb), and once they’d left she came clean to Cain.
Sobbing into his arms, she cried out ‘I don’t want to die.’
Whilst he comforted her, it was clear that he still couldn’t quite get his head around the events of the last few days and how his first reaction was to hate her for what she’d done rather than rush in to rescue her.
Will Moira be okay, and will Cain be by her side in this difficult months that follow?
