We’re getting very close to finding out who Ella Forster (Paula Lane) really is in Emmerdale.

This week, the newcomer moved into Liam’s (Jonny McPherson) house after he discovered she was sleeping in his car.

When Mandy (Lisa Riley) spotted a picture amongst Ella’s belongings, she had a look and saw two young girls smiling together – one had red hair, the other had black curly hair.

Ella realised what Mandy was doing and snatched the photograph away. A few days later, she continued her mysterious behaviour and slipped away from the village to visit a care home.

There, we met an old lady called June Phillips who was also living with dementia. Ella absolutely adored spending time with her, and the scenes also allowed us to learn that in the past, the duo went through something together that made them ‘very sad’.

In Friday’s (May 24) episode of the ITV soap, Ella headed off to the care home to see June again, this time with a bunch of flowers.

When she arrived at the room, Ella was a little puzzled to realise it was empty.

Outside, Ella asked an employee where June was, and then received the devastating news she had died last night.

Poor Ella was completely broken. She sat alone in June’s room, surrounded by her things, struggling to come to terms with the news.

The lady who told Ella about June then approached with some more upsetting information. She told Ella that she needed to leave the room now…because only relatives were allowed to deal with the aftermath of June’s passing.

Intriguing!

So, if Ella isn’t related to June, why was she spending so much time with her?

And will her real connection get exposed at June’s funeral in upcoming episodes?
