Emmerdale ‘confirms’ who will expose Tom – as surprise newcomer enters the frame

Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) had a meeting with her therapist in Monday’s (May 27) episode of Emmerdale.
Last week, Belle decided to check into a mental health unit. As a result of Tom’s (James Chase) abusive behaviour, poor Belle is now struggling and decided time away from the village would be safer for her.
Watching Belle drive away was challenging for Tom – and not because he found it difficult to see his wife in a dark place.
All alone and surrounded by professionals who want to help her, Belle could end up telling someone about her abusive relationship – and an out of control Tom knew he had to do something about it.
Unable to visit Belle because she asked Lydia (Karen Blick) to see her instead, Tom developed a plan in the hope his wife would return home – and it involved poisoning Piper the dog.
Meanwhile, in the mental health unit, Belle was speaking with her therapist.
Belle started the session feeling a little puzzled. She said how in the past, when she experienced problems with her mental health, she would hear voices in her head – and that isn’t happening this time.

Continuing to open up, it became apparent that Belle believed every recent thing she’d been through with Tom were all her fault. She said she makes Tom feel like he isn’t good enough and thought he had to prove himself just so they could share a house together.
Belle’s therapist then put forward the theory her relapses happen as a result of triggers within relationships.
‘You think Tom’s the problem?’, Belle asked.
‘Do you think he is?’, the therapist responded.
At this point, a fearful and anxious Belle said no, but then ‘I don’t know’ immediately after.
Belle had reached the point that she needed to explore further, but she wasn’t in a position to do so. She asked the therapist to stop, and she said yes.
The scene tonight was a sign that if Belle keeps attending the sessions and opening up, her therapist might be the person to work out what’s going on with Tom.
But if the evil man succeeds in his plan to hurt Piper, will everything change again if Belle returns home?
