Did Laurel kill Ray in Emmerdale? Clues and motive as cover-up ‘sealed’
Emmerdale clues may have hinted that Laurel Thomas will be announced as Ray Walters' killer on the ITV soap this week, or that she's helped cover for the real killer
With the question of who killed Ray in Emmerdale soon to be answered, Laurel Thomas is a key suspect in the case.
The ITV soap named her in spoilers as a possible killer, while they even gave her her very own focussed episode. This week a number of flashbacks reveal Ray’s final moments that led to his demise.
We find out what everyone is hiding, as well as who killed Ray. Laurel’s episode airs on Monday, and it’s teased she could be to blame after displaying some strange behaviour in the past few weeks.
We’ve seen a possible weapon, her covering her tracks and her even seeking forgiveness in church. It’s clear she is hiding something, but whatever that is is yet to be revealed.
This week, we find out what’s going on and whether she killed Ray. Amid a theory she could be covering up the crime for her son Arthur Thomas, we also find out what’s going on with him too.
As far as a motive goes, Laurel is unlikely to have premeditated murdering Ray if it was her that did it. She had been swooped off her feet by her new love interest though, so finding out he was a criminal and what he’d done was tough.
We’ve seen her in turmoil, confronting Ray over his sick crimes. This is revisited in flashbacks on Monday, with Laurel appearing guilty and worried before we see she spoke with Ray again.

As Ray tries to explain himself, Laurel refuses to listen and rushes home. Ray’s not having it though, bursting his way into the house as he demands to be heard.
He tells her about his past, but Laurel doesn’t accept it and soon she has a choice to make, as Ray begs for his freedom. As a plan for justice soon arises, could it lead to Laurel killing Ray, or her covering for someone else close to her?
What is known is that Laurel ends up with Ray’s red rucksack. She was seen disposing of this recently., while cracking under the pressure of whatever she is covering.
Fans are already sharing their guesses that Laurel or Arthur are to blame. One fan theorised: “I’m guessing it’s Arthur who’s killed Ray, defending Laurel.”
Another fan said: “We think Arthur killed Ray with pair of scissors. Laurel found the scissors and washed them.” A third viewer posted: “I still think something to do with Laurel and Arthur.” Fans will have to tune in this week to see!
