Jailed Matty issues devastating plea to Moira in Emmerdale spoiler video
(Emmerdale: Matty gets visitors in prison)
Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) and Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) pay a visit to Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) Emmerdale soon, and they are completely consumed with worry about him.
A few days ago, Matty accidentally stabbed Samson Dingle (Sam Hall). During an incident at The Hide, Samson’s horrible friend Josh pushed him into Matty, resulting in the teen becoming injured.
In the aftermath, Josh has manipulated Samson into lying about what happened, which has sadly made it look as though Matty stabbed him without provocation.
Currently behind bars Matty is understandably terrified about the future. However, because Matty is transgender, that fear has been heightened tenfold and he is fully aware if his prison inmates discovered his identity, he would become a target.
In this new video, we see the moment Matty arrives at the prison visiting room to see Moira and Amy.
After Matty reveals he hasn’t been contacting his family because he doesn’t have a phone in his cell, Moira asks if he’s been taking his medication.
Matty seems reluctant to talk about this subject, and then confirms to his mum and wife that the prison officers are leaving him well alone, because he doesn’t want anyone thinking he’s getting special treatment.
Moira then tries to tell Matty that she’s been looking at custody teams that would be able to visit him and help with protecting his identity.
Matty – who doesn’t even want the word trans to be mentioned in their conversations in case someone hears – tells his mum he cannot have any extra protection or aid to decrease the possibility of ‘this lot’ finding out about him.
Convinced his approach is the right one, can Matty keep safe?
‘Moira is extremely terrified and quite desperate because she knows this is not something Matty would ever do, it’s not in his nature,’ Natalie J. Robb insisted.
‘She feels that everybody’s kind of taking Samson’s side in the thing and that’s making her more and more frustrated and obviously that leads her to losing the plot more and trying to think of ways she can help Matty and get him out of the situation as quickly as possible.’
She added: ‘He hasn’t showered because he’s so scared. He’s not sleeping, he knows he’s not safe during the day and at night, he just doesn’t know what’s going to happen next.
‘It’s a terrifying situation for him and then Moira starts to realise, when she sees Matty in this place where he shouldn’t be, where he doesn’t belong, she realises the importance of trying to get him out as soon as possible and proving his innocence.’
