It’s been a turbulent time in Emmerdale recently for Nicky Miligan (Lewis Cope) and his boyfriend Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) – and the drama is set to drive them away from the village for good.

Nicky’s arrival in the village was shrouded in secrecy as he came to Home Farm to be a nanny to Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham)’s son, only to end up engaged to be married to Gabby.

This was all revealed to be part of Caleb Miligan (William Ash)’s plan to destroy Kim Tate (Claire King), and Nicky couldn’t go through with the deception of marrying Gabby as he didn’t love her and was gay.

Against the odds Nicky settled in the village after Caleb’s plan was exposed and eventually found love with Suni.

Last year the couple found themselves in a horrible situation when Suni was hurt after being attacked by a group of homophobic thugs after a night out. The gang held Nicky back as he tried to help and the incident was devastating for both of them.

So when Suni rang Nicky recently and told him he was in a club and had spotted the men who’d attacked him, Nicky was desperate to get to the location to help him.

Unfortunately he’d been drinking, so Ethan Anderson (Emile John) offered to drive him. On the way, Ethan lost control of the car with horrendous consequences for Nicky, who spent a long time in a coma in the aftermath of the crash.

After he was released from hospital Nicky was disturbed to hear that his mum Ruby (Beth Cordingly) had run Ethan over in revenge for being responsible for the accident and for leaving Nicky at the scene afterwards.

Ethan collapsed and died in the days following being run over, with Charles being convinced that it was the hit and run that had killed him.

When the news arrived that Ethan had had an aneurysm that was nothing to do with the hit and run, Caleb and Ruby celebrated with a brandy.

This disgusted Nicky who thought they were being disrespectful to Ethan’s memory. Ruby tried to reason with him but the argument escalated and ended up with Nicky punching his dad and vowing never to speak to his parents again.

In future instalments of the ITV soap Nicky is determined to follow that threat up, as he suggests to Suni that they could leave Emmerdale and start afresh somewhere else – which is bound to devastate Ruby.

This week (June 12), it was confirmed Nicky and Suni will leave the village as expected.

As reported in The Sun, fans will see the exit scenes in the coming episodes.

But will they get their happy ending, or will something tear them apart before they see through their plans?
