There’s horror ahead in the village as someone we all know and love as a good guy, stabs a fellow local in Emmerdale.

It’s a turn of events set to throw the whole place into disarray when the most unlikely of people leaves someone for dead. Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) is the man wielding the blade and Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) is the one left bleeding to death. What could cause Matty to turn violent?

Everyone has their limits, and for Matty, it’s a transphobic attack. But while Matty is left holding the bloodied kitchen instrument, all is not as it seems.

It’s Samson’s friend Josh who orchestrates a scenario in which Matty is seen as a cold-blooded attempted killer.

Samson is determined to pass his driving test and to set off around Europe in his new car, much to Lydia Dingle’s (Karen Blick) chagrin. She prays he’ll fail his test and that his car won’t get Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) seal of approval, but her wishes are not granted – Samson aces the test and Cain is more than happy to give the car the A-OK.

Lydia’s worry comes across as a lack of interest in Samson’s achievement, which sees him sulk off to the HOP to celebrate with people who care.

Once there, Josh lets his weirdo side show. He starts heavily flirting with newly married Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson), despite her protestations, and he seems to be oddly well aware that Matty is trans.

Amy finds his incessant flirting too much and ends up leaving work early. Matty is spurred into action and confronts Josh, bringing him down to size with some home truths.

Then he pours salt on the wounds of a dented ego by insisting Josh and Samson leave the premises.

Bully boy Josh is not about to swallow that embarrassment, and his anger rises. He’s further irked when Matty gets the upper hand on him again. Once outside the HOP, Josh turns on Matty – cruelly deadnaming him. But that’s just the beginning.

He follows Matty back inside, preparing to teach him a lesson. He threatens Matty about giving him money from the till and things begin to escalate.

As they hit boiling point, Josh shoves Samson towards Matty – who is holding a knife. The knife punctures Samson’s side and he is left bleeding profusely.

Josh immediately starts verbally attacking Matty, saying he rushed Samson with the blade and left him dying on the floor.

Matty is in a spin; he suddenly realises the whole narrative has flipped and now he’s facing some serious consequences for an act he didn’t do.

Will he be framed by Samson and transphobic Josh?
