Emmerdale’s Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) is currently in jailed waiting for a court date after being accused of deliberately stabbing Samson Dingle (Sam Hall).
In reality, Matty had armed himself during a transphobic attack and Samson had unfortunately been shoved onto the knife he was holding by Samson’s mate Josh.
Unfortunately for Matty, Samson went on to ditched the family code and is sticking to the lie that Matty rushed him with the knife.
Matty is having a hard time in prison and worried mum Moira (Natalie J Robb) will do absolutely anything to see her son set free.
Essentially, Moira isn’t coping, and that in itself has disaster written all over it. Usually so resilient, Moira is a mess when it comes to anything happening to her children – especially after Holly.
Matty reveals that being transgender in prison, he is terrified of taking a shower and has not been taking his medication, sending Moira into a pit of anxiety.
Enough is enough for her, she starts plotting to get him freed. Cain (Jeff Hordley) also tries to do his bit in pushing Samson to tell the truth, but Samson is not about to admit a thing.
Samson seems to be the black sheep of the Dingles, having also turned his back on Lydia (Karen Blick) when she revealed she was raped.
Dingle Code means nothing to him.. Cain is left exasperated as the young Dingle refuses to change his story.
So Moira brings out the big guns, and formulates a plan to get Samson to change his statement, and it involves her following him into the Woolpack toilets with dark intentions.
But the ill-conceived idea completely backfires and now Matty could be at even more risk. Has Moira sealed his fate?
