Emmerdale’s Debbie Dingle’s return ‘sealed’ as Belle takes action against Tom

Emmerdale fans will no doubt be questioning once more if a character return is on the way, after the latest spoilers.

Debbie Dingle gets a mention next week in a planned reunion with her niece Belle Dingle. Amid fans recently speculating Cain Dingle’s daughter will make a comeback to the village, the character could be there for Belle in her time of need amid her abusive marriage to Tom King.

Things reach a terrifying point next week, as Belle reaches the decision to flee the village and Tom. After a chat with her Mental Health Care Coordinator, Rachel, she finally sees the reality of Tom’s abuse.

Belle is encouraged to take some time away from Tom, with Rachel appearing to realise the extent of his controlling behaviour. As Tom’s actions look set to come to light, Belle decides her best bet is to pack her bags and flee to Scotland to see Debbie.

But something could stop her in her tracks, with Tom facing death in a twist. If Belle changes her mind, could it lead to Debbie heading to the village to check in on her, or might the mere mention of her be a hint that Debbie is set for a return?

Actress Charley Webb quit the role in recent years, while Debbie is still regularly mentioned on the show with her daughter Sarah Sugden living with Debbie’s mother Charity Dingle. But could drama with the Dingles finally bring the character back?

It’s not been revealed by the soap or actress Charley that a comeback is planned so perhaps it’s just a mention for now. Viewers will no doubt be speculating a return though, after believing there were hints recently.

Meanwhile, Tom finds out the truth about Belle’s abortion, and he cannot contain his rage and begins throwing an iron bar around a barn. But as he continues to lash out he ends up facing grave peril, but will he be found in time?

Belle will soon tell Tom she’s suffered a miscarriage, when she’s in fact had a termination. Viewers know that Tom has been abusing his wife for months, coercively controlling her and manipulating her before turning violent.

Belle fell pregnant and didn’t want to go through with the pregnancy, but Tom was pushing her to have the baby while isolating her further. When he realises next week that Belle took a trip to the abortion clinic, he begins to attack his surroundings with an iron bar.

But as he prepares to deal one final swing, the metal bar smashes against the barn’s rotary isolator behind him, and Tom is electrocuted. He’s thrown against a beam and he falls to the ground, left lifeless on the floor – but is this the end of Tom?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays
