Emmerdale star lands huge Hollywood role alongside acting legend
Former Emmerdale star Alexander Lincoln has landed a new Hollywood role alongside Mean Girls actor Jonathan Bennett.
Alexander, who is best known for playing Jamie Tate on the ITV soap, is set to appear as Jonathan’s love interest in a new Hallmark movie series.
The Groomsmen trilogy focuses on the male perspective in the build-up to the weddings of three longtime best friends who are each other’s groomsmen on their big days.
Appearing alongside Tyler Hynes and B.J. Britt, Jonathan – better known as Mean Girls’ Aaron Samuels – takes on the role of baseball coach Danny.
Girls Gone Hallmark reports that in the second film, The Groomsmen Second Chances, Danny admits his feelings for his best friend – played by Alexander – when he is asked to be the best man at his wedding in Greece.
A source also told The Sun: ‘It’s a huge role for Alex and will open his career up to bigger opportunities in Hollywood.
‘It’s a really smart move after doing Emmerdale and a lot of indie movies. It’s going to put his name on the lips of casting directors in America for sure.
‘He could become the biggest British soap star in America.’

Jonathan recently told People magazine of the films: ‘That is the first time we’ve had a gay wedding on Hallmark as the lead storyline. And that’s a huge move for the gay community so they can see themselves represented in these stories.’
Alexander’s appearance in the trilogy is the latest in line of roles since leaving Emmerdale in 2021 after two years as the veterinarian son of Home Farm matriarch Kim Tate (Claire King).
In 2022, he was one of the leads in the romantic drama film In from the Side, telling the story of two men from a gay rugby team who were having a passionate affair behind their partners’ backs.

Earlier this year, Alexander also popped up in Doctors, playing the guest role of Joel Tanner, who was romantically linked to both Luca McIntyre (Ross McLaren) and Maria Jaziri (Laila Zaidi).
Alexander is also set to appear in the forthcoming film On a Winter’s Night alongside Jack Brett Anderson, which tells the story of ‘a stone-broke gay actor and a privileged bonehead with a failing business cross paths on a winter night and join forces in a quest around London to find a meaning to their miserable lives,’ according to IMDB.
The 30-year-old actor recently revealed there had ‘been talks’ about him returning to Emmerdale, but he had decided to pursue other projects.
He told Attitude magazine: ‘I loved the show. I lived in Leeds for two-and-a-half-years. I miss everyone from the show deeply. No one knew who I was before it — I’d done some very tiny things. It was my initiation into the acting world. I can never thank them enough for that experience.
‘But I don’t know, to be honest. There have been talks. But for now, I really want to focus on this year: I want to produce, start my own scripts.
‘There are other parts I want to play. There are time constraints. Being on the show, it’s such hard work — you don’t have time to do anything else. Booking a holiday is hard enough.’
