Devastating Emmerdale split as show favourite dumps girlfriend for his ex
It’s no big shock that Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) isn’t that into Ella Forster (Paula Lane) in Emmerdale.
Liam has been about as subtle as a sledgehammer over his feelings for Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), despite the fact he already has a girlfriend.
He sacked off his beloved evening of murder mystery madness when Chas asked for some help with a rash. He then proceeded to omit these details to Ella when he regaled her with his evening activities.
Equally, Ella’s negative reaction to his invite to attend the murder mystery event with him said it all – it’s never a good sign when your girlfriend mocks you for your pastimes.
Then when Chas learned about the death of her uncle Zak (Steve Halliwell), Liam refused to leave her side claiming he had to support her.
That’s some emotional cheating right there. She told him to leave as things had got weird, but it was more obvious than Liam’s social awkwardness that the sparks between these two had never gone away.
In fact, the opposite is true, and Liam is struggling with the fact that he clearly has feelings for Ella, but Chas means more to him.
So when Chas invites Liam and Ella to enjoy Halloween at the pub, it’s a true test for the GP.
He knows things aren’t right with Ella, but he’s not one for taking the bull by the horns and seizing his own destiny because that would involve hurting Ella’s feelings.
This of course means he goes about things arse about face and instead of talking to Ella, he confesses to Chas that he likes her. To his utter surprise, she tells him she feels the same and they end up kissing.
So now Liam is in a quandary over moving forward with Chas as it means having a tricky conversation with Ella.
Ella is set for a double whammy as while Liam is about to dump her, Paddy is on the verge of giving her the sack.
Liam knows what he has to do, but having bumbled his way through an awkward love confession with Chas, does he have the guts to do what he needs to do with Ella?
One thing for sure is that Chas won’t play second fiddle, and she won’t wait around. How will one-time murderer Ella respond to being brutally dumped?
