Emmerdale’s Belle begs dead dad Zak for help as Tom King takes back control
Emmerdale spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (October 23) episode that is now available to view on ITVX. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 7:30pm.
Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) was left in a bad way after Tom King (James Chase) had her arrested for breaching her bail conditions.
Tom, as viewers know, is being investigated by the police after Belle reported him for domestic abuse. Belle, however, is also being investigated after she admitted that as she attacked her abuser with an axe last month.
The two are allowed to have zero contact while the investigation is ongoing but Belle struggled to stay away after receiving an unmarked bunch of roses in the wake of Zak’s (Steve Halliwell) death, believing Tom to be the one who sent them to her.
Tom, in typical Tom fashion, denied all knowledge of what she was talking about and proceeded to gaslight her into thinking that she was imagining things, which prompted Belle to throw the flowers at her abuser.
Enraged, Tom responded by reporting her to the police.
Wednesday’s offering of the ITV soap saw DS Foy arrive at Wishing Well to arrest Belle, taking her down to the station for questioning.
Belle explained the situation, telling the detective that Tom is taunting her repeatedly and thus she had to confront him about it.
To her surprise, DS Foy confirmed that he believes she is telling the truth regarding Tom but he urged her to proceed with caution, telling that because she is of sound mind, they’ll have no choice but to arrest her and put her in prison if she breaches her bail conditions again.
Belle retuned home and attempted to process what had happened, before heading out to Zak’s grave while wearing his cardigan.
In emotional scenes, the former events planner was seen talking to no-one, evidently believing that she could hear Zak’s voice.
‘I didn’t realise how much I needed you dad’, she said, as the camera panned to reveal that there was no-one there.
It’s clear that Tom’s abuse is having a serious impact on Belle’s mental health but will she get justice?
Will Tom be held to account for his crimes? And will Sam (James Hooton) and Lydia (Karen Blick) come to realise just how much Belle is struggling?
