Emmerdale confirms exit story as Cain struggles to say goodbye to Moira
Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) struggled to say his goodbyes to Moira (Natalie J Robb) as she headed off with son Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) to visit Adam (Adam Thomas).
The news of the imminent trip took Cain by surprise, as Moira – who has been diagnosed with a brain tumour – thought she’d already told him, apologising profusely for the miscommunication.
Moira assured him that Matty would look after her and all her medication as she revealed that she needed to see Adam before her brain surgery, which is due to take place at the end of next month.
After the confusion subsided, Cain proved supportive, telling Moira to take as long as she needed as he gave her a big hug.
The reality of the situation seemingly set in for the mechanic, as he held on tightly to his wife, knowing that they will soon have to do this before the operation, with the prospect of a more permanent goodbye on the cards if things don’t go according to plan.
‘I’ll call you every day’, said Moira, to which Cain responded that she’d ‘better had’.
Moira smiled. ‘Love you too.’
After the extended hug, Moira and Cain shared a number of kisses before heading for the door, with Cain set to wave her off with the boys.
Moira, as viewers know, was diagnosed with a brain tumour last month, after her behaviour raised alarm bells with her loved ones.
A barn showdown ensued, in which Moira thought Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) was none other than former nemesis Emma Barton – who is very much dead. The subsequent scenes saw the farmer rushed to hospital where she received her diagnosis.
Moira was apprehensive about getting the surgery at first but ultimately she came to believe it was the best option all around, though she made a living will just in case things didn’t go as she’d hoped during the operation.
