Who is Jimmy and Nicola’s son Carl Holliday’s real mum in Emmerdale?
Carl Holliday (Charlie Munro Joyce) has found himself involved in Tom King’s (James Chase) storyline in Emmerdale, and it’s left many fans of the ITV soap making a new discovery about him.
The young lad is the son of Jimmy King (Nick Miles) and half-brother of Angel (Rebecca Bakes) and Elliot (Luca Hoyle), meaning Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) isn’t his biological mother.
With that, here’s everything you need to know about Carl and who is real mum is.
Who is Carl’s real mum in Emmerdale?
Juliette Holliday, played by Amelia Curtis, is the biological mother of Carl. The character was at the centre of a 2014 plotline that saw Juliette involved in a muddle at a local fertility clinic that left her impregnated with Jimmy’s sperm rather than that of her agreed donor.
After turning up subsequently in the village with the intention of getting Jimmy to waive rights to their unborn baby, Juliette ended up giving birth at Mill Cottage.
But a complication soon arose in the form of estranged husband Greg, whose reconciliation with Juliette resulted in Jimmy being denied access.
An impulsive Nicola then temporarily absconded with Carl, but ultimately returned the lad to his mother – with Jimmy managing to convince Juliette not to take the matter to the police.
Events then took a surprising turn in late 2015 when Greg exited the family home again, leaving Juliette at a loss as to how she could care for Carl. Jimmy then agreed to care for the youngster.
When was Juliette last seen?
In 2021, Juliette arrived back in the village hoping to see Carl again.
After her return impacted Nicola and Jimmy’s relationship, Juliette ended up moving to New York. At first, Nicola and Jimmy feared Juliette would take Carl with her, but she then revealed her new boyfriend Allister doesn’t like children.
Reaching the conclusion she’s always struggled with motherhood, Juliette revealed she didn’t want anymore contact with Carl.
What is happening with Carl in Emmerdale?
A few weeks ago, Carl spotted abuser Tom King smashing his tablet up outside.
With Tom having quite clearly intimidated Carl, Nicola came to realise that Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) was telling the truth when she reported her husband to the police for domestic abuse.
Tom tried to cover his tracks, admitting he only disposed of the tablet because he worried how it would look since he had footage of Belle on the device.
Jimmy believed his tale but Nicola did not and thus, when the coast was clear, she took Carl to the station, where they reported what they knew.
Tom was subsequently carted off by the police for further questioning and Jimmy was certainly not pleased, as he turned his attention to Nicola, demanding to know why she did such a thing.
