Emmerdale confirms unexpected return as ‘missing’ legend is brought back
Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling) has staged her return to Emmerdale, making her first appearance since March of this year in the wake of Angelica King’s (Rebecca Bakes) comeback.
Angelica, as viewers will recall, was driving the car on New Year’s Eve of this year when Heath (Sebastian Dowling) – Cathy’s twin brother – tragically died.
Cathy was blamed for the incident at first, despite not being the one in the drivers seat at the time of the collision, but Angelica later came clean and was sentenced to eight months in a secure children’s home.
Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) was overwhelmed with joy last week to discover that Angel was due to be released, with subsequent scenes seeing the teen return to the village.
However, conflict at Victoria Cottage – caused by the presence of Tom King (James Chase) – made her comeback less than stellar, with Nicola deciding to move out of the house with the kids.
The adjustment to living back in the village proved incredibly difficult for Angel and thus Cathy paid her a visit, marking her first appearance on the show in quite a number of months.
Cathy listened as Angel confided in her about how she doesn’t want to return to school and how coming back home was essentially a bad idea as she feels out of place and fears her school friends will think she’s a ‘freak’.
Concerned for her friend, Cathy relayed Angelica’s fears to Bob (Tony Audenshaw), who subsequently notified Nicola, who was devastated to learn of her daughter’s struggles, branding herself a ‘terrible parent’.
Bob was quick to offer support, giving Nicola a hug.
Jimmy (Nick Miles), meanwhile, was more concerned with the fact that Tom had been attacked, pointing the finger at the Dingles.
Nicola was quick to get involve, telling her husband to wake up and see that Tom is an abuser. But as for whether or not he will come to realise such a thing, we’ll have to wait and see!
