Emmerdale confirms unexpected John twist as major secret is uncovered about mysterious character
Emmerdale spoilers follow for Friday’s (November 8) episode that is now available to view on ITVX. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 7:30pm.
John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) is hiding a big secret, with the latest offering of the ITV soap confirming that the former farmhand informed the police of the illegal bareknuckle fight which took place at Butler’s Farm.
The fight in question was organised by Jade (Twinnie Lee Moore) as Ross Barton (Michael Parr) and Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) took to the ring for a re-match, following Ross previous loss at Billy’s hands.
Billy was meant to throw the fight and allow Ross to pick up the victory but he struggled to let go of his pride and thus powered through with the brawl, much to the horror of wife Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley).
Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), meanwhile, enlisted the help of Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) to allegedly keep a watchful eye over proceedings, with John arriving mid-brawl to inform everyone that the police were on their way, having been tipped off by an unknown informant.
The fight came to a swift halt as everyone hightailed it out of there.
Aaron was seriously injured by one of Jade’s cronies, with John performing a procedure with a pen that ultimately saved his lover’s life.
John was hailed a hero by Aaron’s loved ones and, upon regaining consciousness, Aaron made it quite clear that he was grateful as he and John decided to give their relationship another go.
But a twist beckoned as John was approached by PC Swirling, who thanked him for the tip-off about the fight, branding him an ‘informant’.
John, however, was quick to debate such a term, revealing that the only reason he notified the authorities about the brawl was to prevent anyone from getting hurt.
The question is: is there more to this? Is there a reason John went to the police about the fight, other than what he claims?
The character, who made his debut a number of months ago, likes to keep himself to himself and has been quite evasive about his past which begs the question of whether or not we really know him at all.
