Eric Pollard’s (Chris Chittell) health is declining in Emmerdale and so is his ability to make sensible decisions.

He’s already proven a liability with his choice to commandeer one of Caleb’s (Will Ash) trucks and crash it. He later refused to let Liam (Jonny McPherson) tell Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) that he’d started experiencing ‘freezing’, a side effect of his condition.

But there are more of those wrong decisions to come from the corner shop owner that will put even his upcoming nuptials at risk. He’s becoming reckless in his frailty.

He and Brenda are getting married at Christmas and it’s an exciting time for the couple.

They throw an engagement party to celebrate, where Eric takes the opportunity to make a huge announcement – they’re off on a cruise for their honeymoon.

Now hold on, Eric is an average businessman at best. How he can afford to treat his beloved in such a flashy fashion?

Brenda is utterly delighted, and questions nothing. Rodney, however, is curious.

As the party rages on, Rodney inquires how on earth Pollard is funding such luxury. Eric is cornered and his secret is on the verge of being exposed. In a panic, he legs it.

But someone has spotted his odd behaviour and follows him out of the venue – Leyla (Roxy Shahidi).

She trails him all the way home where she corners the guilty liar. With nowhere to go with his fibs, Pollard confesses the shocking way he has suddenly come into so much wealth.

Of course it is not above board. Leyla is stunned at his baffling behaviour, will she tell Brenda and ruin the upcoming wedding?

Or will Eric find a way to shut her up?
