Gripping Emmerdale trailer confirms the end of Tom King – but he’s not going quietly

The end is nigh for Emmerdale’s Tom King (James Chase), with a new trailer offering up the first look as the abuser’s final chapter gets underway.

Tom, as viewers know, is under investigation for abusing wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper), who reported him to the police over his behaviour a number of months ago.

The master manipulator has covered his tracks at every given opportunity but the walls are closing in, with pretty much everyone in the village now seeing him for the control freak that he is.

The coming week is set to be a big one for the storyline in question, with Tom breaking in to Jacob’s Fold as Belle – who is just back from the mental health unit – has a bath upstairs.

The above trailer, detailing what viewers can expect from Tom’s downfall, previews the scenes in question, with the abuser stealing a top belonging to Belle to give to new girlfriend Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell)

Sam Dingle (James Hooton), meanwhile, worries that Tom is going to flee the village with Amelia and thus he goes to DS Foy for help, hoping the detective can do something to ensure Amelia and Esther’s safety.

The trailer teases a showdown, with Belle in serious danger as Tom confronts her on the side of the road, while a panicked Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Charity (Emma Atkins) race to the rescue.

But will Belle be saved before Tom can hurt her again? And will she finally get justice for the torment that he’s inflicted on her?

Discussing the end of the storyline, Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw said: ‘When we first embarked on this journey we knew we wanted to show domestic abuse, coercive control and manipulation in all its guises.

‘The privilege we have on a drama such as Emmerdale is being able to show the reality of a situation like Belle’s over a longer period of time to authentically reflect what so many people go through in real life on a daily basis.’

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
