Emmerdale’s Ruby reveals why she ‘despises’ estranged dad as disgusted Steph reacts
Emmerdale’s Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) didn’t hold back as she listed a number of reasons why she didn’t want her estranged dad Anthony (Nicholas Day) in her life.
The matriarch has become noticeably distant since Anthony rocked up in the village, with fans convinced that there is a secret about her past involving her dad that has yet be revealed.
This was certainly implied on Wednesday (December 6) when Ruby struggled to catch her breath just moments after promising daughter Steph (Georgia Jay) that she would make peace with terminally ill Anthony.
Thursday’s (December 6) hour-long offering of the ITV soap picked up the following day, with Ruby berating Caleb Miligan (William Ash) for failing to have her back where Anthony is concerned.
Realising that she was right, Caleb confronted Anthony, who was taken aback by the sudden friction, with the patriarch having thought that they put their differences aside during the previous day.
But having come to realise that this was not actually the case, he made plans to leave the village, with Ruby pleased to know that she would no longer have to see him.
Steph, however, got wind of Anthony’s intention to flee and took him for coffee in a bid to find out what prompted his sudden change of heart.
Caleb, meanwhile, was left concerned by why Ruby was drinking, asking her why exactly she couldn’t forgive Anthony.
‘I despise him’ she replied. ‘The fact that he’s got cancer doesn’t change that one bit.
‘He’s crawled in here trying to re-write history, looking for sympathy and I haven’t got a shred to give.’
Steph was rendered speechless as walked in on her mum talk about why Anthony’s death would have little impact on her and thus branded her mum’s comments ‘disgusting’.
Ruby didn’t intend for her daughter to hear but she remained steadfast in her position on the subject, which prompted Steph to reveal that if Anthony goes then she’s leaving too.
Determined to hold on to his daughter – who has only just come back into their lives after decades – Caleb pleaded with Ruby to make peace with Anthony.
‘I don’t want that man in my life!’, exclaimed a tearful Ruby in response but Caleb was adamant that this was the only way they could ensure Steph would stay in the village.
Will Ruby be able to do such a thing? Or will the real reason for why she ‘despises’ her villainous dad come to light before she’s put in yet another uncomfortable position by her loved ones?
