John soon caught the eye of Aaron Dingle, and the two men have been casually dating.
But things are about to be taken up a notch in upcoming episodes, when John suggests a camping trip to Aaron (Danny Miller).
Aaron’s unimpressed with John’s surprise, but during the camping trip, John begins to open up.
Despite his many months in Emmerdale, there is still a lot that Aaron – and viewers – don’t know about the enigmatic character.
But as they talk on the trip, the pair deepen their emotional connection.
And in a major step, Aaron and John confess that they love each other.
But will Aaron feel the same when he finds out more about John?
Actor Oliver previously teased how complex and shrouded in mystery his character is.
He told Digital Spy: “I think he’s enigmatic, really.
“There’s a lot to him, and there was a lot of stuff in the initial character breakdown that was hinted at but wasn’t necessarily revealed.
“Obviously, they don’t like to give too much away too quickly. I’m still finding stuff out about him.
“He is very much a lone wolf. I think over the years, he’s really put walls up and not let anyone in.”
Emmerdale viewers will have to wait and see if John finally reveals why.
