Emmerdale confirms Anthony’s true nature in sinister scenes as Ruby reels
Emmerdale’s Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) saw her estranged dad Anthony (Nicholas Day) for who he truly is after he ordered her to sit down and listen as he tried to tell her what to do.
Anthony, as viewers know, rocked up in the village last month, with his presence leaving Ruby on edge.
The patriarch, who is terminally ill, claims he wants to make amends with Ruby, who ultimately agreed to let him stay in the village but only so that her own daughter Steph (Georgia Jay) wouldn’t flee.
Caleb Miligan (William Ash) suggested that Ruby give her father a chance to redeem himself but he started to see Anthony for who he truly is on Tuesday (December 10) when he arrived at Mill Cottage in a foul mood.
Anthony previously discovered that Caleb had cheated on Ruby last year with Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) and he was on the warpath as a result. Caleb, however, remained unfazed, threatened violence if Anthony didn’t back off at once.
With his efforts to intimidate Caleb having backfired, Anthony turned his attention to Ruby, telling her that he knows all about her husband’s affair, claiming – much like he did decades ago – that Caleb isn’t right for her.
Ruby jumped to her husband’s defence and claimed that the situation isn’t all one sided, telling him that both she and Caleb have been unfaithful, alluding to her one night stand with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) last month.
Anthony’s was appalled to learn of such a thing, though he was intrigued to know the identity of the mystery man.
Ruby refused to divulge such information but – after snapping at his daughter to remain seated while he spoke to her – it seemed as though Anthony was pleased to know about her infidelity.
Will controlling and manipulative Anthony use this revelation to get what he wants?
That remains to be seen but it’s safe to assume that, following tonight’s offering of the ITV soap, Anthony is indeed not to be trusted – much like the fans have thought for weeks.
Viewers suspect that a darker secret is set to come to light about Ruby’s strained relationship with her father, with a flashback episode set to hit our screens on Thursday (December 12), which will likely shed some light on the subject.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
