Emmerdale confirms Tom King’s unexpected final plan to escape justice as Belle reels
Emmerdale’s Tom King (James Chase) refused to face justice for his crimes as he pondered another way to reclaim control of the situation.
The abuser, as viewers know, was arrested and charged after Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) reported her ordeal to the police.
He is due to stand trial next week and, with no supporters left in his corner after Jimmy (Nick Miles) disowned him, Tom turned his attention to Angelica (Rebecca Bakes), instructing dodgy solicitor Ollie to make a request of the teen.
Friday’s (December 13) offering of the ITV soap saw Angelica record a video, branding Tom an abuser and a control freak as she documented the way in which he treated Belle during their marriage.
Belle struggled upon seeing the video, which had been shared online, horrified that her story had been put out there for all the world to see.
Further issues arose when she was notified that the video in question could potentially scupper the trial.
It turns out that this was exactly what Tom wanted.
However, in a bid to cover his own tracks, he turned the tables on Angelica, playing the victim and feigning hurt when he spoke to her on the phone, telling her not to call him ever again.
Angel finally saw her cousin for who he truly is and thus notified her dad of Tom’s manipulation. Jimmy was seething and subsequently paid a visit to the prison to confront Tom, telling him that he hopes he rots.
Tom still reckoned that he had the upper hand but things took yet another turn when Ollie notified him that, despite Angel’s video, the trial will be going ahead as planned.
Refusing to accept his fate, Tom tried to come up with another way to get out of the trial, telling Ollie to let him think on it.
Subsequent scenes will see the abuser attempt to take his own life in prison, which once again throws the trial up in the air, with Belle spiralling.
The trial, however, ultimately proceeds. The question is: will Tom pay for his crimes? And will Belle finally get her justice?
