“Emmerdale Shocker: Tom King Takes Bold Step to Sabotage the Trial as Belle is Left Stunned!”
Emmerdale spoilers follow for Monday’s (December 16) episode that is now available to view on ITVX. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 7:30pm.
Tom King (James Chase) was rushed to hospital after a code red was declared, with the prisoner having attempted to take his own life.
The abuser, as viewers know, is currently behind bars awaiting trial after he was charged with domestic abuse and coercive control following a report from wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).
Tom has attempted to manipulate and gaslight everyone around him in order to try and reclaim control of his situation and, with his efforts having failed thus far, he took extreme action in Monday’s visit to the Dales.
Jimmy King (Nick Miles) was left in shock as he received a phone call from the prison, telling him that Tom had attempted to take his own life.
The news travelled around the village, with Belle learning that the abuser was in hospital, with Jimmy left to fill her in on the rest.
Belle recalled how Tom threatened to take his own life before if she ever left him, believing it to have been a way to trap her into staying with him. But the latest update left her floored, worried that he could have actually followed through this time.
Charity (Emma Atkins) was left concerned about Belle, knowing that this will play on her mind. Belle asked for some time alone, wanting to process what had happened.
At the hospital, it became very clear that Tom had attempted to stage the attempt on his life as a way to throw the trial into disarray.
Ollie, his solicitor, informed him that he will still need assessed to see if he’s fit to stand trial in the wake of his attempt on his own life but Tom was hopeful that proceedings would fall through without Belle’s testimony, convinced that she wouldn’t testify in the wake of learning what he did.
Will Tom’s theory come to pass? Will Belle pull out of the trial?
Despite Tom’s manipulation, the trial does kick off later this week, though whether or not Belle makes it to proceedings remains to be seen.
