Emmerdale’s Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) has done something profoundly awful, but instead of facing the music, he decides to drag Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) down with him.

Described by actress Charlotte Bellamy as a ‘rotter’, delusional Jai still hasn’t come to terms with Laurel’s demand for a divorce and has been kicking the can down the road with his odd behaviours.

Following her heart attack, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) returned home and against her wishes, Jai was right there, hoovering the living room and making her cups of tea two hours too early.

Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) and Gabby (Rosie Bentham) had made it abundantly clear that he was not welcome, but stubborn Jai remained steadfast.

Things took an acrimonious turn shortly after when Laurel herself told him to leave and he had no choice but to comply. But in a cutting move, Jai made it clear that if he’s leaving, Archie is coming with him.

The news was broken to the kids that a divorce was on the cards, and it all started to feel very real for Jai.

Jai is in a dark place and feels like he’s lost his whole life. But instead of picking himself up out of the gutter and accepting his lot in life, he sinks to a new low and lashes out instead.

With Pollard in his sights, spiteful Jai sets about exposing Pollards schemes to Brenda and Rodney.

Successfully decimating their respect for their loved one, Jai is pleased at a job well done.

With his bitterness being fuelled by his desire to bring everyone around him down with him, how far will he go in his quest to shift the blame from himself?
