Hollyoaks Unveils Second Rape Storyline as Abe Fielding Plot Thickens
The storyline takes another dark turn.
Hollyoaks has confirmed that Peri Lomax will be raped by her husband Abe Fielding in upcoming scenes, as his shocking abuse continues.
Abe was abusive towards his former partner Cleo and held her captive in his flat for over a year while starting a new relationship on the outside with Peri.
Last month, Cleo escaped his clutches and crashed the couple’s wedding day, but Marie accidentally hit her with her car, and she has remained in a coma ever since.
In recent weeks, it was also revealed that Abe raped Peri’s mum Leela at a party during the show’s missing year, but she isn’t aware that her new son-in-law is the culprit.
Mercedes and the McQueens have become suspicious of Abe since Cleo’s accident, and this has made Peri doubt who she is really in a relationship with.
In this week’s scenes, Peri cast her doubts aside and she and Abe tied the knot after their original ceremony was derailed.
However, Peri then found a pillowcase in Abe’s cupboard that matched the material of Cleo’s makeshift wedding dress and realised that Mercedes’ suspicions might be correct.
Next week, Peri investigates further and confronts Abe about what she has found. The situation escalates and Abe lashes out, hitting Peri.
But actors Ruby O’Donnell and Tyler Conti have confirmed to Metro that Peri will also be raped by Abe while she is unconscious, in harrowing upcoming scenes.
“It’s really sad from Peri’s point of view,” O’Donnell told the site. “She’s confronted him, called him out on it, and then he does that when she’s unconscious, to claim the power back that Peri’s not letting him take.”
But Peri’s ordeal could be the catalyst for Abe’s downfall, as later she will find the courage to open up about her rape and report her husband to the police.
“Abe’s worst nightmare is control slipping through his fingers,” said Conti. “As soon as the one person on his side starts questioning a little bit, it’s real panic stations for Abe, and how else can he take control?”
