Passions have been rising in Hollyoaks, with two iconic characters sharing an unexpected kiss following a day of real trauma.

Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) and Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin) had united to make evil Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) pay.

Cleo had plans to kill him after finding him in Joel Dexter’s (Rory Douglas-Smith) car boot. Crossing paths with Sienna, she opened up about what she was going through.

Initially wary, Sienna – who has had more than her fair share of vengeance experience – told Cleo that she was with her.

They tied a beaten and bruised Abe up in the terrifying room he had held Cleo hostage in for over a year, but he still retained his menace, launching himself at Cleo and throwing the breakfast she had brought over her.

As she emerged in tears, Sienna was there to comfort her. With Cleo hell-bent on killing Abe, Sienna put her sensible head on and assured her that she would never find peace that way.

With Cleo in bits, Sienna later found her sobbing while fully clothed in the shower.

She joined her friend and they sat together under the stream of water, with Sienna telling Cleo how strong she is.

The emotional connection between them sparked and they found themselves drawn together into a kiss.

Later, once apart, Sienna sent another comforting message to Cleo, who allowed herself a thoughtful smile.

Could this be the start of a blossoming new relationship as Cleo and Sienna explore their sexuality?

Or will they write it off as a heat of the moment one-off?

Oh, and as for Abe? Jez (Jeremy Sheffield) made short work of him, releasing him into the woods and then strangling him death.

Grace Black (Tamara Wall) then shot the corpse and framed Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) for it.

Yeah, all of that was a tad less romantic.
