Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (February 5), which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Hollyoaks has aired a shocking death in today’s episode, as storylines collided in two huge twists.
This week, Abe Fielding’s attempt to flee the village went wrong when he crashed into his brother Joel on the road, who beat him up then put him in the boot of his car.
But Cleo then took matters into her own hands, stealing Joel’s car keys and driving off with Abe. She was spotted by Sienna, who was desperate for Abe not to tell the police about Dilly – and she agreed to help Cleo move him into the secret room in his flat.
In today’s episode, with the tables turned and Abe held captive, Cleo prepared a bowl of porridge for him, planning to poison and kill her abuser.
While Sienna tried to stop her going through with it, Cleo went ahead and gave Abe the porridge. However, he quickly realised it was poisoned and threw the bowl at her.
Meanwhile, after Freddie and Mercedes kissed again, he told her that he wants to be with her properly and would accompany her to her latest hospital appointment.
When Grace confronted her husband about his betrayal, he made it clear that he wanted to be with Mercedes now, leaving her furious and threatening to kill her former friend.
As Cleo cleaned herself up in the shower, she was supported by Sienna, and the pair shared a surprise kiss. Sienna said they should take Abe to the police – but Jez overheard.
Cleo and Sienna later realised that Abe had disappeared from the room. Jez took him to the woods, having promised to help him get away, but when Abe said the wrong thing, Jez strangled him to death.
Having acquired the gun to kill Mercedes, Grace heard Abe’s scream and went to investigate in the woods. When she found Abe’s body, she thought of a new plan and shot him before making a call to the police.
Grace spoke to Mercedes outside the hospital and secretly planted the gun in her bag. The police then arrived, discovered the weapon, and arrested a horrified Mercedes for Abe’s murder.
