Ryan Mulvey, famed for his role as JJ Osborne in the Channel 4 soap opera, has bagged a part in the ITV programme mere weeks after finally leaving Hollyoaks for good.

The Sun can now reveal Ryan will be appearing in Weatherfield this spring as part of a brand new plot.

Ryan was involved in one of soap’s most controversial plots ever when it was revealed that his character JJ had been repeatedly raping and abusing his twin sister, Frankie, and putting her through a terrible ordeal.

JJ was sent to prison after finally confessing to the shocking abuse which led to his exit from the soap.

Prior to heading to jail, JJ was diagnosed with leukaemia and was left needing a bone marrow donation in order to save his life.

Twin sister Frankie is his only option and she decides to proceed with the transplant, not to save his life but in order to ensure that he lives to face justice for what he did to her and to allow her to see him in a court of law.

Viewers of Hollyoaks were left distressed by some of the shock abuse scenes that played out during the horror storyline.

At the time, the disturbing scenes sparked shock and fury among Hollyoaks viewers with one writing: “Let me tell you now your gonna have some furious fans!

“This is an unnecessary storyline that could’ve gone differently, you could’ve had the Brother be very protective because of what they’ve both gone through with their mum.

“You could’ve had a depressing storyline, like the Brother going through depression and the sister being able to help him. The possibility is endless of what storyline you could’ve done for these two twins, but you decided to do a complete unnecessary storyline.

“Don’t get it twisted these things happen in real life but you wanna show things that people will want to watch not be sick from.”

Another added: “I think you should have had a trigger warning at the start of this show.”

But they continued: “The acting was spot on, and this happens much more than people actually realise. So as hard as it is to watch, well be done to Hollyoaks once again for highlighting real-life issues that others hide away from.”

The Sun has reached out to Coronation Street for comment.
