Hollyoaks: Ro’s bullying ordeal intensifies further in violent ending

Arlo continues his campaign of abuse.

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Ro Hutchinson’s bullying ordeal at the hands of Arlo Fielding intensified on Hollyoaks tonight as violence erupted.

Ro has been the subject of Arlo’s bullying campaign for the past few months, with the schooltime taunts being taken home after the pair began to live together following the relationship between their respective parents, Tony and Marie.

Monday’s (February 10) episode saw Arlo stoop to new lows as he removed sanitary pads from the bathroom bins and stashed them in Ro’s bag, using the situation to say vile transphobic abuse.

Tuesday’s (February 11) follow-up instalment began with Tony and Diane heading into school to get to the bottom of the matter, with Diane telling Nancy that the act constituted a hate crime in addition to bullying.

As Ro waited in the park for his parents to arrive, Tony informed him and Diane that he had to head out to see Marie, who is grieving the death of her son, Abe. As Diane recalled her own story of bullying from childhood, Ro told his mother that Arlo is behind the abuse.

Diane and Ro headed to Marie’s, where Tony was present, to inform them of Arlo’s actions, though Ro refused to confirm the truth as a lying Arlo acted innocent in front of his mother and the adults.

Diane organised for Ro to stay at The Dog, despite Tony’s doubts following Ro’s previous trouble with alcohol, with the move backfiring immediately as Ro snuck out of the building with a bottle of wine in his bag.

As Ro found a quiet spot to drink, Arlo arrived as he revealed that he had been tracking Ro’s location via his phone. The abuse, which included repeated deadnaming, turned physical as Arlo kicked a downtrodden Ro, who lay on the ground in tears following the latest incident.
