Coronation Street Dylan’s inmate Brody shocks fans with Hollyoaks ‘crossover’

There was a familiar face on Coronation Street on Thursday night, with some fans convinced they were witnessing a Hollyoaks crossover.
Dylan Wilson’s sentencing landed him a stretch in a Secure Training Centre (STC), following his possession of a knife that was used in Mason Radcliffe’s murder. On Thursday the episode, which landed on ITVX that morning, saw him trying to keep a low profile, but his link to teacher Daniel Osbourne was pretty obvious to the other inmates.
One inmate in particular, Brody, soon spoke to new boy Dylan leaving him rattled. Dylan ended up confessing he and Daniel were neighbours, with Brody advising him to keep the news on the down low.
Spoilers for the episode released last week had detailed this moment too, with Dylan left fearing the worst. The spoilers before the episode also confirmed that Brody would offer support to his new friend Dylan, who faces a hard time from some of the lads in the centre.
Brody sends the boys packing and tells Dylan to stick with him until he finds his feet. But does Brody have an ulterior motive, and should Dylan watch his back? Fans were a bit distracted during the initial scenes after recognising the actor who was playing Brody.

Brody is played by former Hollyoaks actor Ryan Mulvey, who played evil JJ Osborne on the show since last year. He actually only left fairly recently, so it’s quick work from actor Ryan moving onto another soap.
JJ happened to be sent to prison after his disgusting crimes towards twin sister Frankie Osborne were finally proven. Frankie faced her brother in court after he sexually abused her in a harrowing storyline, raping her and then accusing her of lying to cover up his sickening actions.
But the truth came out in the end and as JJ faced trial he finally admitted what he had done, before being sentenced. Given the actor is back onscreen so soon and in a prison like environment, some fans were wondering if it was a soap crossover, and if it was JJ who was with Dylan.
This is not the case with Ryan’s Corrie character being a teen named Brody. But it didn’t stop soap fans taking to X to share their thoughts with one writing: “Please let JJ from @Hollyoaks be the same person now in #corrie.”
Another said: “So JJ now in prison in #Corrie, is this a crossover or is he playing a brand new character?” As a third added: “Did anyone spot JJ in last night’s #corrie in prison with Dylan? Wonder if its a crossover and the character is also called JJ?”
