Hollyoaks star Brandon Fellows confirms ‘massive shift’ as he reveals next phase of Tommy story

Hollyoaks star Brandon Fellows has confirmed that there is more to come where Tommy Odenkirk (Brandon Fellows) is concerned, with the storyline in question only just getting started.
Tommy, as viewers know, rocked up in the eponymous village last month moonlighting as a therapist, offering support and guidance to Leela Dexter (Kirsty-Leigh Porter).
The mysterious newcomer was harbouring a big secret, with subsequent scenes confirming that he had a particular interest in Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed).
The truth was revealed in harrowing scenes in Monday’s (April 7) flashback episode – which documented a piece of the ‘missing’ year – revealing why exactly Tommy has become obsessed with the former priest.
‘Tommy was bullied by his brother and ridiculed for being a weird, quirky character,’ actor Brandon Fellows told Metro.
‘Joel sees Billy being a bully and comes over and punches him, putting him into a coma.’
The twist in question, which Brandon branded ‘beautifully written’, allowed the actor to properly get under the skin of Tommy – and he hopes it will do the same for the audience, helping them in understanding the motive behind his on-screen alter-ego’s actions.
‘Tommy just wants a brotherly figure that he’s never had,’ he said. ‘He’s hoping Joel will be that brotherly figure.’

Brandon was quick to add that while Tommy does have ‘menacing’ and ‘sinister’ moments, the character is ultimately ‘a very lonely person’.
‘Tommy doesn’t have anyone left in his life,’ he continued. ‘His mother has passed away and his brother is in a coma, so he doesn’t really have anyone. He’s just trying to grasp on to someone who will show him a little bit of attention.’
In terms of what’s ahead, Brandon assured me that there is much more to come for his character – with such scenes previewed in the Spring Trailer.

The soap star reckons that Tommy’s obsession spiralled from the moment that he tried to kiss Leela – and that it’s only going to get worse in the weeks and months to come.
‘There’s going to be a massive, massive shift,’ he teased. ‘A massive bomb is going to drop in Hollyoaks.’
Consider us very intrigued.
