Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) isn’t long for Hollyoaks and, despite former flame Dodger Savage (Danny Mac) being back in the eponymous village, her departure looks set to be a sad one.
The paralegal-in-training, as viewers know, rekindled her romance with Dodger at some point during the ‘missing’ year but the spark soon fizzled when she realised that she’d been lied to.
Dodger, as viewers know, is working as an undercover cop and he’s hellbent on exposing the child exploitation racket that is being operated in the village by none other than Grace Black (Tamara Wall).
The much-loved character has been keeping a low profile in recent months, winning the trust of Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey), who is on Grace’s inner circle.
But with Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) in a bad way later this week, he comes out of the shadows to be there for his estranged twin, leaving Grace and Rex wondering whose side he’s really on.
Next week, Sienna is keen to stay out of sight following her collapse while Dodger tries to get some bonding time with daughter Myra-Pocahontas.
Maxine, meanwhile, wants to know just how Dodger came to have bloody knuckles and she’s horrified upon receiving an explanation, which leads her right to the police station, where she confesses all to Donny Clark (Louis Emerick).
Back in the village, Dodger plants a listening device on Rex’s phone – and he’s left reeling to learn of Grace’s plan for Maxine.
Just what does Grace have in store for Max?
That remains to be seen but Maxine and Dodger subsequently find themselves in the eye of the storm as all the pieces of Grace’s plot fall into place.
Be afraid, be very afraid!
The Spring Trailer, which hit screens on Monday (April 7), confirmed a hostage situation for Maxine as Grace strikes so it’s safe to assume that lives are on the line during the upcoming scenes.
What we can say is that Dodger and Maxine find themselves imagining a future together away from the village but, knowing he must make the people who took his family away pay, Maxine urges Dodger to stay and see the job through to the end while she leaves the village.
Will Maxine get out of the village with her life intact?
Later at The Loft, Rex and Grace present Dodger with an ultimatum. The question is: just what is it?
