Hollyoaks killer return confirmed and Mercedes McQueen will be gobsmacked

Bobby Costello is heading back to Hollyoaks two years after he was sentenced to a juvenile detention centre following the deaths of Silas Blissett, Sylver McQueen and Verity Hutchinson

Hollyoaks teenage tearaway Bobby Costello is set to make a sensational return.

Waterloo Road actor Zak Sutcliffe is said to be taking over the role of Mercedes McQueen’s son from Jayden Fox.

Zak is best known for playing bully Schuey Weever in the BBC school drama but he’s now heading to Chester as Bobby.

It’s not the first time the young actor also has history with Hollyoaks as he played guest character Tommy Bradshaw for two episodes in 2021.

Speaking about his new role, Zak told Digital Spy: “I’m having a lot of fun with my time on Hollyoaks so far. It’s exciting to get into something gritty and complex.”

Bobby has been on and off our screens since his birth back in 2011 and fans haven’t seen the actor on screens since his dramatic exit in 2023.

The troubled teen was responsible for the deaths of Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawls), Sylver McQueen (David Tag) and Verity Hutchinson (Eve O’Hara).

Bobby confessed to his crimes and was sentenced to a juvenile detention centre. He blamed Mercedes for everything and wrote her a letter making clear that he never wanted to see her again, although Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) managed to convince him to change his mind and meet with her a few months later.

In 2023, Bobby was beaten up and was moved children’s homes, although this backfired when a feud between the McQueens and James Nightingale (James Nightingale) resulted in James having Bobby transferred to a detention centre in Devon.

In November 2023, it was revealed that Bobby was further transferred to Plymouth after a fight at the Devon institution.

With the McQueen family still reeling from past traumas, Bobby’s reappearance is destined to shake up the village.

His mum Mercedes hasn’t been able to see her son whilst undergoing treatment for Bowel Cancer, so it’s set to be emotional scenes when the pair reunite, but under what circumstances?

Fans will remember Bobby’s father, Riley Costello, was killed when he was accidentally shot by Simon Walker back in 2012.

Bobby was originally played by Jakob Chialton from 2011 until 2013 before Jayden replaced him from 2018 until 2023.
