Hollyoaks bringing back second fan favourite for Clare Devine storyline

Will there be another face-off?

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks is bringing back Ellis Hollins for an upcoming storyline involving legendary villain Clare Devine.

It was revealed last month that Gemma Bissix has signed up for a shock return as Clare, 12 years after the character was killed off by her ruthless enemy Doctor Browning.

While details on how and why Clare returns are being kept under wraps, The Sun has reported that Hollins is reprising his role as Tom Cunningham for the storyline.

The actor, who landed the role of Tom when he was just 3 years old, bowed out from the Channel 4 soap back in September after an incredible 21-year run.

However, he’s returning for another potential face-off with Clare, who terrorised Tom when he was a child, locked him up, faked his death and tried to murder his brother Max, all in an attempt to steal their fortune.

The storyline takes place as Hollyoaks pulls out all the stops for its milestone 30th anniversary year.

Speaking to Digital Spy ahead of his departure from the soap last year, Hollins shared his hopes to be invited back for the anniversary.

“I think that’d be lovely. I hope that they would invite me and I hope it would be a really massive episode,” he said at the time.

“It needs a big celebration. Hollyoaks is really trying to make the best version of itself and it’s had a large climb over the past few years.

“I would like to think, by the 30th anniversary, we’ll be in a good position to really celebrate. I

“I think bringing back old faces is definitely something they should consider, whether that be mine or not. I think that would be the best way for them to celebrate.”
