Ethan Williams (Matthew James Bailey) finds himself on the wrong side of dastardly Jeremy Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) in Hollyoaks ahead of his upcoming wedding to Sienna (Anna Passey).

The former owner of The Loft, as viewers know, has rekindled with his romance with Sienna after a year apart, much to the delight of fans who’d been hoping the show would put the popular couple back together.

This reunion was made all the more satisfactory by confirmation that the pair are engaged to be married, with on-location photographs from a filming shoot confirming that there is a wedding on the horizon.

The couple’s happy ending is in sight and, next week, Ethan and Sienna have a spring in their step, enjoying some time together as they look to the future. But it seems as if getting to the altar might be somewhat of issue, with more complications set to arise.

Ethan’s ex Vicky Grant (Anya Lawrence), as fans are aware, has struggled to accept that her former flame is back with his one true love – and there are ructions when wannabe hardman Robbie Roscoe (Charlie Wernham) finds out that she’s still harbouring feelings for Ethan.

But Vicky isn’t the only one who has doubts about Ethan and Sienna as Jeremy is less keen about their affection as well.

Yes, Jeremy. The very same Jeremy who, upon meeting Sienna and other members of his long-lost family, decided that he would murder them all.

The character, who is thought to have killed before, subsequently found out that he’s Sienna’s biological father in a storyline that did not go down too well with fans.

This newfound knowledge seemingly made Jeremy grow a conscience as he resolved to get to know his family and not, you know, kill them.

How noble.

Jeremy’s behaviour next week doesn’t go unnoticed by Liberty Savage (Jessamy Stoddart), who shared a kiss with him previously. Concerned, Lib relays to Ethan that Jeremy is simply feeling left out. Ethan therefore makes it is mission to include the patriarch in the celebrations, trying to bond with him.

He’s a braver man than me.

Ethan asks Jeremy – Sienna’s ‘father’ of all of five minutes – for his blessing. The question is: will Jez give it to him?

Or will Jeremy’s dark side re-emerge? It seems he’s not keen on Ethan being the main man in Sienna’s life so will he resort to murder?

It’s a busy week for Ethan, who – in addition to planning for a wedding – has other things on his plate, with Vicky telling him that she still hasn’t given up on her quest to be with him. Just how will he react to the news?

That remains to be seen but this showdown comes in the wake of Robbie – who likes to think he’s the new big bad gangster in town – making a spectacle of poor Vicky as he throws her belongings out on the street, causing quite the scene.

Ethan, as viewers will know by now, is on borrowed time, with Metro having exclusively confirmed in June that star Matthew James Bailey is set to exit the show.

One to watch: Wednesday October 2 at 7pm on E4 or stream first from 6am on Channel 4 streaming.
