Hollyoaks has teased Rex Gallagher’s big secret amid Darren Osborne’s disappearance, in the show’s latest episode.
While Ste believed that Rex kidnapped or killed his late husband James, viewers know this isn’t the case. But they also know that Rex has another big secret of his own.
In recent scenes, Rex was seen visiting a house, where he is keeping safe a young man called Jacob, and a woman called Kat. Jacob is the mysterious ‘J’, who was writing notes and putting them in Rex’s bag.
Rex’s connection to these characters isn’t yet known, but it appears that he is he is serious about keeping things under wraps.
In today’s episode, Frankie and Jack set up a search party for Darren, after Frankie found her dad’s business cards in the woods.
During the search, Robbie looked worried – still concerned that Darren’s disappearance was an act of revenge from someone for him killing Dave, aka Blue.
Meanwhile, Leela was plagued by flashbacks and ran off in the woods. She came across a van and then was confronted by Rex, who was scared that she had looked inside.
Joel intervened, furious that he had threatened Leela, before Rex realised that there was a group of people searching for Darren, including Robbie.
Once alone, Rex asked Robbie if the others knew that he was the reason Darren is dead. Robbie demanded that Rex leave the village, and he promised that he would soon be gone forever – just like Darren.
Rex got into his van and asked whoever was inside if Leela had seen anything. It isn’t known who this was, but the fact that Rex used Leela’s name suggests that they are someone known to viewers.
Later, Frankie urged Jack to tell her the truth about her dad and wanted Robbie to do the same. After pressure from Frankie, Robbie told her that he thinks Darren is dead.
In a conversation with Vicky, he doubled down about his thoughts and admitted that he thinks he is responsible for Darren’s alleged death.
