Hollyoaks star Ali Bastian has asked fans for financial help in a new post as she shared an update on her health.

Back in September, the Channel 4 star revealed to fans she was in “total shock” when she was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. The 42-year-old actor said she had been having weekly chemotherapy treatment and then early next year will undergo a mastectomy and radiotherapy treatment.

The star, who competed on the seventh series of Strictly Come Dancing, first found a lump while she was breastfeeding her daughter, Isabella. At first, doctors thought it could be a blocked duct. However, when antibiotics didn’t stop the soreness she went to a specialist clinic where tests revealed the cancer.

In a new update shared on Instagram, Ali shared a photo of herself and asked fans to ‘help out’ if they wanted to. So I had my last (fingers crossed emoji) chemo on Friday! Def more to say about this part of the ride but just recovering now and getting my strength up for surgery in a few weeks.”

She went on to say: “A lovely follower recommended I put one of these links up as I think sometimes people would like to help but now sure how. I have sat with it for a few weeks as I wasn’t sure how I felt. But here it is! Any [coffee emoji] is greatly and warmly received.

“I know times are hard and strange, so please, no pressure AT ALL! Much love and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support and kindness through all this.” The soap star also added a link to her Buy Me A Coffee donation page, which has already received a lot of support from fans.

Ali, who played Becca in Hollyoaks, previously admitted she didn’t want to be labelled a “patient” for fears of losing her identity. She said she was happy to “trot around with a bald head” when she was at home, but feared that it was “all anyone would see”. Speaking to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, Ali said the first time she took her wig off, she was only worried for a “split second”.

She said: “Then it felt all right, and then it just felt normal. I’m hot and my bald head needs some air!” Ali also said she found her hard to “feel compassion” for her breasts, struggling to come to terms with what was happening.
