Hollyoaks confirms danger for Cleo in dramatic escape plot

Hollyoaks has confirmed danger for Cleo McQueen as she attempts to escape the clutches of Abe Fielding this month.
Abusive Abe has been secretly holding his partner captive in his flat for over a year now, while on the outside he is in a new relationship and engaged to Peri.
Cleo still thinks that she killed Abe’s mum Marie in the motorbike accident, but next week she will find out that Marie is alive and Abe’s wedding is still going ahead.
She tells Abe that her eating disorder is back and she doesn’t have long left to live, and she wants them to get married so she can die happy.
But this is a lie, as was revealed in the show’s winter trailer, where Cleo is heard saying: “He’s never going to let me go, not alive at least. Books have kept me company. Abe doesn’t read, but he should. Because then he’d know the story about the girl who tricks her captor into thinking she’s dead.”
In scenes that will air later this month, Cleo plots her escape, now she is aware of the truth. She plays Abe at his own game and manipulates him into letting her outside while they read their wedding vows.
Meanwhile, Peri’s hen night is in full swing at The Loft, with the guests making use of the karaoke machine. Peri thinks that something has been bothering her mum lately, but Leela bats away concerns.
Leela is also worried about her daughter, not convinced that Abe has changed after his abuse of Cleo. But what Leela doesn’t realise is that it was, in fact, Abe who raped her at Theresa’s party last year, with her attacker’s identity remaining a mystery to her.
At the folly, Abe and Cleo share the vows that they’ve written for one another, but it isn’t long before Cleo collapses. Abe panics when he can’t bring her around, so he takes drastic action, wraps her in a blanket and puts her in his car.
What happens next hasn’t been confirmed, but a chilling clip in the winter trailer shows Abe throwing Cleo’s seemingly dead body into the river.
The next day, ahead of his impending nuptials to Peri, Abe throws away the wedding ring that Cleo gave him. Has Cleo’s escape plan worked?
These scenes will air on Monday, December 16, and Tuesday, December 17, on E4 and streaming service Channel 4.
