Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (December 17) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin) has been left fighting for her life after she was knocked down by an oncoming car at the folly.
The nurse, as viewers know, has been held captive by abuser Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) for over a year while her loved ones believed her to be on holiday in Bali.
Cleo was gaslit and manipulated by Abe into believing that they should get married but she was horrified to learn that her captor was engaged to Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell).
In a bid to reclaim control, Cleo lied to Abe, claiming that her eating disorder was back and that she was dying, begging the abuser to marry her at the folly so that she could die happy.
The whole thing was a ruse to get out of that flat and, after exchanging vows with Abe, Cleo collapsed, faking her own death.
Abe carried her body to the river, where he disposed of it, believing that this chapter was over. Little did he know, however, that Cleo was very much alive and, as she crawled out of the river, she made it her mission to stop his wedding to Peri.
Tuesday’s (December 17) edition of the Channel 4 soap saw Peri decide to go ahead with the ceremony, much to the horror of Leela Dexter (Kirsty-Leigh Porter), who begged her daughter to reconsider, knowing that Abe had been violent towards her.
Marie intervened, desperately wanting the wedding to go ahead and, with Abe having failed to turn up to the folly in time for the wedding, she paid him a visit at the flat, urging him to wed Peri.
Cleo, meanwhile, made her way towards the village, with Pearl Anderson (Dawn Hope) spotting her along the side of the road and agreeing to give her a lift to the folly.
In distressing scenes, Cleo made her way towards the attendees, with Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) shocked to see her cousin in such a state.
Cleo walked into the road, eager to be reunited with her cousin, but tragedy struck as she was subsequently knocked down by Marie’s car. Her loved ones raced to the scene, desperately hoping that Cleo would be okay.
The question is: will she? And will Abe finally face the consequences of his actions?
