Hollyoaks fans have been left fearing the the worst as newcomer Kat tried to get in touch with Darren Osborne on the Channel 4 soap, with viewers convinced they know exactly how they are connected
Hollyoaks viewers reckon they’ve twigged the connection between Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor-Dawson) and soap newcomer Kat Sonia Ibrahim) following a mysterious text he received in a recent episode.
Darren has just returned to the Channel 4 soap drama, having taken some time away at Charlie Dean’s (Charlie Behan) uni pad to dodge the chaos back home due to daughter Frankie Osborne’s (Isabella Smith) impending court battle with her twin, JJ Osborne (Ryan Mulvey).
With Darren battling depression after the devastating revelation that his son has been assaulting his sister, his escape had left his family in tatters. In Tuesday’s episode (December 17), while Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox) held her ground with her returning hubby, viewers were on edge as Darren got a secretive text message urging, “Please call me,” from someone named Kat.

This sparked a frenzy among fans, stirring speculation on their supposed acquaintance. Hitting up X, once known as Twitter, one sleuth theorised: “Wait what if Rex got Darren to take Kat and/or Jacob away with him when he left Hollyoaks #hollyoaks.”
Another chimed in with a pondering tweet: “I wonder if Rex knows that Darren knows Kat… #hollyoaks.” One fan was utterly gobsmacked, tweeting: “KAT? ? ? AS IN KAT AND JACOB? ? ? okay so I was right about Darren’s disappearance definitely looping into this larger Rex storyline that they’ve set up for 2025 oh that’s crazy oh I’m so scared.”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Meanwhile, intrigue brewed amongst the viewers as some suspected foul play during Darren’s absence, with one writing: “Who is Kat? Darren better not have been up to his old tricks again.” Another echoed the sentiment, saying: “Omg who’s Kat? I hope Darren didn’t cheat on Nancy.”
Briefly introduced in a previous episode, Kat emerged from the shadows when Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) visited a shady house last month, where she resided alongside a boy named Jacob (Ethaniel Davy), also known as the enigmatic ‘J’ leaving notes for Rex.
