It’s safe to say that Carla Connor (Alison King) is in complete turmoil after an unexpected moment with DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) in Coronation Street earlier this week.

Carla and Lisa opened up to each other about their recent struggles over several bottles of red, and soon things grew more intimate between them as Carla brushed a strand of hair from Lisa’s face.

However, as soon as they both realised what was happening, Lisa broke things off and fled the flat, leaving Carla totally confused by her feelings.

In tonight’s episode, Carla was keen to discuss things, and after some persuasion Lisa finally agreed.

As Carla explained that she wanted to put what had happened behind them so as not to ruin their friendship, Lisa pointed out that nothing had happened, so they were free to move on.

With everything seemingly back to normal, they both appeared relieved – though, unfortunately, this wouldn’t last.

When the pair later ran into each other in the Rovers, Carla made a quick getaway, and the awkwardness between the pair didn’t go unnoticed by Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott).

It didn’t take long for Ryan to bring up his observations to Carla, much to her horror.

Though she tried to brush it off at first, she soon admitted that they had almost shared a moment, but that they didn’t want to ruin their friendship.

Ryan was quick to insist that she shouldn’t be embarrassed or in denial, as it was 2024 and, in his eyes, they were very clearly pining for each other.

This clearly struck a chord with Carla, who appeared even more confused about her feelings than ever.

Meanwhile, in the Rovers, Lisa drafted a text to the factory boss about her swift exit, but was interrupted by daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin).

As Betsy explained how she felt she needed to step up seeing as it was just the two of them after her other mum’s death, it appeared that Lisa was keen to take a leaf out of her daughter’s book.

Deciding to put Betsy first, she deleted the text. Are Carla and Lisa destined to be nothing more than friends, or will they give in to their true feelings in the end?
