The end of a number of eras beckon for Coronation Street, with next week seeing one major character laid to rest while another contemplates her future, as confirmed in my new spoiler pictures.

The ITV soap is gearing up to bid farewell to the legendary Gail Platt (Helen Worth), who is set to depart to the eponymous street after 50 years.

The iconic character spends time with new beau Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) next week and, with the money from the sale of his house on the cards, she wonders what they should do with it.

With Gail set to exit in upcoming scenes, will she decide to leave Weatherfield in her rearview mirror for a new life elsewhere?

And speaking of goodbyes, Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and a number of other residents visit the law offices for Les’ (Bruce Jones) will reading.

And that’s not the only big development for Leanne during the week in question as she’s also called to give evidence at the trial of Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper).

Despite getting off to a decent start, things go awry when Leanne catches Rowan’s smug grin, losing her temper on the stand, which prompts the court to be adjourned.

Has Leanne ruined her chances of taking Rowan down?

And elsewhere on the Street, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding ) is on the cusp of making a big discovery, which will destroy everything for her and David (Jack P Shepherd).
