Hollyoaks unleashes Jenson’s dark side in early streaming episode

Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Monday’s episode (25 May), which is available to watch on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

Hollyoaks‘ Jenson Cole unleashes his dark side tonight, following his surprise proposal to Mercedes McQueen. The mysterious newcomer locks the pair in the house in an attempt to salvage their relationship, with Mercedes left fearing for her life.

Tonight’s instalment picks up from Wednesday’s cliffhanger, which saw Warren Fox spoiling Jenson’s proposal plans. Forced to reveal what he was hiding, Jenson presented a shocked Mercedes with a ring and asked her to marry him.

The episode opens with Jenson looking at wedding venues before hastily closing the laptop when his girlfriend walks in. We learn that Mercedes told him that she “didn’t want to get married”, though Jenson tries in vain to “bring her round”.

Later, Mercedes is shocked to see Jenson back in the house after asking him to leave earlier on. She gently reiterates that she needs space but the latter reacts badly.

“You mean you want to turf me out and then ghost me for a few days,” he says. “Why is everything at your pace? You know, there’s two of us in this relationship.”

When Mercedes asks him to leave again, Jenson heads towards the door, but decides to lock it instead, trapping them both inside. Panic washes over Mercedes’ face as she sees his dark side emerge.

Jenson assures her that he isn’t going to hurt her and just wants to apologise. He explains that Diane Hutchinson’s recent death reminded him of losing his mum and pushed him into wanting a new family.

Terrified Mercedes hears Myra and Theresa outside and calls for help, but with the key still in the lock, they can’t get in. However, having been watching from his secret camera, Warren rushes over and orders his brother out.

In the scuffle, an ornament breaks and Warren’s hidden camera is discovered, with Mercedes immediately realising its owner. He claims he was protecting and his kids from “that headcase” before also being kicked out of the house.

As the episode ends, we see Jenson in his car with an item of Mercedes’ clothing. He angrily lashes out, revealing his temper. Are the McQueens in danger?
