Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has revealed filming on the Platt house fire was far from straight forward after chaos hit set.

Last week, fans of the ITV soap saw No. 8 burst into flames after a mystery assailant put a lit rag through the letterbox.

David initially found himself arrested on suspicion of an insurance job, but he feared gangster Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) was responsible.

There were also worries for Max Turner (Paddy Bever), who was left in hospital after rushing in to the fire believing sister Lily was inside.

But in a huge twist, Max was revealed as the arsonist on Monday, believing an insurance payout would help David get Harvey off his back.

Jack discussed the epic stunt on his On the Sofa podcast, revealing that filming had to be halted due to heavy snowfall.

Speaking to his co-hosts and Corrie co-stars Ben Price and Colson Smith, who play Ben Price and Craig Tinker respectively, Jack recalled: ‘When we were filming that, Ben, do you remember all the problems we had with the weather? It snowed, didn’t it, the first night?

‘We were meant to be filming until 4am. My call time was 11 o’clock at night. Then they said, “No, everyone’s going home at 9 because the snow was so bad.”

‘Did we have four nights but we only ended up filming two and a half?’ Jack asked.

‘Yeah,’ Ben confirmed. ‘And then the inside was done on a completely different day.’

After the fire aired last week, some fans called out a glaring plot hole involving Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding) escape from the inferno.

Unable to find Lily, Shona and Max got trapped inside, with the back door they’d come through getting stuck.

Confusingly, Shona was seen banging on the door from the inside trying to escape, before she was then suddenly outside in the garden, bashing it from the other side to try and get Max out.

One fan wrote on X: ‘Shona with Max in her arms on one side of a closed door, and ending up on the outside of it, still closed and without Max, then trying to get back in and being unable to before running off will never make sense.’

‘Either Shona can teleport or they’ve badly edited it and cut out how she got out,’ another fan said.
