Coronation Street spoiler video gives first look as re-cast character stages return

Coronation Street has offered fans a first look at the re-cast James Bailey in this spoiler video from this week’s episodes.

The character is set to return to the ITV soap after three years – but Jason Callender is taking over the role from previous actor Nathan Graham.

James arrives back in Weatherfield from the US amid a challenging time for his sister Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown).

She is currently pregnant after sleeping with her evil ex Joel Deering (Calum Lill), and only agreed to keep her baby to help its half-brother Frankie, who needs a transplant.

Frankie was born after Joel groomed and abused Lauren, meaning Dee-Dee’s unborn baby would likely be a donor match for Frankie.

However, next week Frankie’s mum Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) reveals that a new donor has been found so he can have his operation quicker.

Dee-Dee is left reeling and contemplates her options but is soon thrown a curveball by James.

As you can see in our spoiler video from Wednesday’s episode,  Dee-Dee is stunned when James proposes that he and boyfriend Danny adopt her baby after it’s born.

Will she agree to the idea?

‘James is determined, whatever he puts his mind to he absolutely goes for it,’ said actor Jason upon news of his casting.

‘He’s a little brother so expect little brother pranks but more than anything he loves his family and he really wants to be a dad.’

The actor promised ‘lot of warmth, a little bit of love, charisma and a little bit of charm,’ when James returns home.

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday 19 March at 8pm on ITV1 or stream first from 7am on ITVX.
