Corriedale bosses share explosive behind-the-scenes look as lives to change ‘forever’
The stars of Corrie and Emmerdale will collide in a one-off episode on Monday night that leaves at least one character dead, but who will it be?

The stars of Coronation Street and Emmerdale collide for the first time in these behind-the-scenes photos from the one-off episode of Corriedale.
Soap fans are gearing up for the stars of both TV shows to cross paths in the hour-long crossover that will air on ITV at 8pm on January 5. Details of the plot have been carefully kept under wraps, but we do know there will be an explosive crash.
Spoilers have suggested there is more than one death on the way, with a body seen and residents grieving after the pile-up. Corrie star Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Abi Franklin, said she couldn’t give too much away but revealed: “There’s a possibility lives will be forever changed.”
Fans will have to wait until Corriedale airs tomorrow night to see what happens, as it won’t drop on ITVX earlier in the day like the usual episodes are. But these pics give a few clues as to who gets caught up in the crash.
Friday’s episode of Corrie saw several bust-ups at Debbie Webster’s wedding to Ronnie Bailey, with most of the characters in attendance.
In the preview snaps, it looks like Shona and David Platt look like they got caught in the crash, as both looked to have cuts and scratches on their faces. But the question on fans’ lips will be, is their baby okay?
Another character who looks like he could be injured is evil Theo Silverton. For months, viewers have watched him torment and abuse boyfriend Todd Grimshaw, with the truth finally coming out when Todd plays pal and ex Billy Mayhew a video of Theo attacking him.
Looking dirty and dishevelled on set, actor James Cartwright – who plays Theo – smiled at the camera as he posed with on-screen boyfriend Todd and Emmerdale couple, Cain and Moira Dingle.
Corrie’s Steve McDonald was seen with cuts on his head as he was pictured next to Emmerdale’s Dr Liam Cavanagh, suggesting he is also caught up in the car crash. Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle looks like he gets hurt as he posed with co-star Moira and Corrie’s David and Shona Platt.
And what has become of Corrie’s Carla Connor, who was also involved in filming the special Corrie scenes? The last time we saw her was when she was locked in a cupboard by soap villain Becky Swain.
‘Back from the dead’ copper Becky took revenge on Carla for shacking up with her wife Lisa. While Lisa thinks Carla has gone on holiday and ghosted her, she’s actually been held prisoner by Becky the whole time – and could have been moved to the boot of Becky’s car.
Other snaps showed Corrie’s bad boy Carl Webster sitting next to a crash test dummy wearing an identical outfit to his, suggesting this was used in scenes where he is a victim of the smash.
Carl, who is played by actor Jonathan Howard, is also seen larking about on set with his on-screen sister Debbie, played by Sue Devaney. Prior to the crash, the pair had a huge bust up at her wedding.
It came out that dementia sufferer Debbie had failed to tell Carl she had spoken to his mother in the weeks before she died, meaning Carl was unable to say goodbye to her.
Other stars in the behind the scene pics include Emmerdale newlyweds Jacob Gallagher and Sarah Sugden. Though from what we can see the pair look unscathed.
Murderer John Sugden, who has returned to the soap in a bid to get husband Aaron back, is also seen with a cut to the head in the snaps. And Joe Tate is seen wrapping up warm in a dry robe in between takes, suggesting he could be one of the victims. More Corrie stars that were captured on camera include Tracy Barlow and Debbie Webster.
Also seen on set were Corrie’s Kevin Webster and his estranged wife Abi Franklin, who recently ran off with his brother Carl. But she recently discovered he was cheating on her with James Bailey and planning to flee the country after he’d stolen money from his sister Debbie.
Want more after the special one-off episode has aired? Corrie fans can get exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the making of Corriedale from 9pm with Corriedale Backstage Pass, including exclusive interviews, on ITVX, ITV3 and YouTube.
The build-up starts at 7am Monday when half-hour episodes of both shows will land on ITVX and on ITV at 7pm and 7.30pm. The unique crossover episode was filmed across 3 weeks back in October, including a 12-night shoot on a disused road close to Harrogate, Yorkshire.
Corrie star Julia Goulding, who plays Shona Platt, shared: “There was such a fantastic atmosphere on set. It was really special to be able to work with the Emmerdale cast and crew. It certainly helped with the night shoots to be able to work with new people. We kept the energy levels high with coffee and lots of sugary sweets!”
While Emmerdale’s Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Dingle, said: “The night shoots were a lot of fun and it’s been great working with the Corrie team. I can’t wait to see how the episode plays out with the separate storylines from both Emmerdale and Corrie. It’s going to be epic and every soap fan’s dream.”
