EXCLUSIVE: Coronation Street star warns fans ‘won’t be happy’ with Bethany Platt’s new storyline

Bethany Platt won’t be popular with Coronation Street fans when her new storyline airs.

Actress Lucy Fallon has confessed something is on the way for her character that for now is top secret. She did warn though that fans will not be happy about it, and Bethany might not come across well.

While giving nothing away about what or who it involves, she admitted she was ready for it, even if it does her character no favours. Whatever it is that happens is “Bethany’s fault”, with Lucy hinting her character will deserve any viewer hate that comes her way.

Speaking at the Grand National Festival at Aintree Racecourse, she teased: “She does [have a big storyline coming up]. I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s not going to be great.

“I don’t think people are going to be happy about it. This one is low-key her fault. Everyone is going to be like, ‘She is a d**k.’ Which is fine.” But Lucy isn’t bothered about taking on controversial storylines on one condition.

Lucy says as long as the plot “is good” she’s happy to get her teeth stuck into it. She shared: “I don’t mind what it [her storyline] is as long as it’s a good one.

“Being in the Platts is a good family to be in. It’s an amazing honour to get a storyline, I don’t take it for granted at all.” Viewers will have to stay tuned to find out what’s coming up for the character, with more to be revealed soon.

Lucy admits she doesn’t watch her episodes back though, despite being at the centre of huge storylines over the years. She doesn’t watch the soap at all for a big reason.

She explained: “I don’t actually watch Coronation Street. Not because I don’t like it, but because I don’t like to watch anything I do. Some people like to watch themselves, but I’ve never ever liked it.

“So, I don’t really watch it and I don’t really know what’s going on in Corrie at the moment. But I love it at Coronation Street. It’s my favourite place, it’s my second home.

“I’ve lived in the Street more than I’ve lived in my own house. I’ve only been in my house since September but I just love it.” Fans were worried for Bethany recently after she looked to be villain Jodie Ramsey’s next target.

Bethany was suspicious about Jodie and keen to expose her behaviour, but she has since decided to drop the case.
