Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is out of his depth in EastEnders next week, as my new spoiler pictures show, as Nigel Bates’ (Paul Bradley) young-onset dementia worsens.
He firstly finds his mate barefoot in the street – and the problem only escalates when Nige causes chaos in the kitchen and scolds Phil with boiling water.
There’s also an incident where he mistakes Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) for his adoptive daughter Clare (Gemma Bissix).
His ex-wife Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) is deeply concerned and urges him to seek help from a professional carer, which sets her cousin Jean Slater’s (Gillian Wright) tongue wagging about their relationship.
Kat is quick to shut her down, asserting that it’s purely platonic.
There’s lots of celebrations next week – Patrick Trueman’s (Rudolph Walker) 85th birthday causes issues for the teens when they’re firstly served alcohol by Elaine Knight (Harriet Thorpe), and then steal two jugs of punch.
They leave the booze unattended, and youngsters Raymond, Bert and Ernie get their hands on it!
Christmas comes early for the Mitchell clan, as Nicola (Laura Doddington) and Teddy (Roland Manookian) hope that a mid-year bash will boost son Barney’s (Lewis Bridgeman) spirits after learning about his true paternity.

Tensions rise and Nicola trashes the room, and things only get worse whenHarry (Elijah Holloway) invites along Barney’s real dad Zack Hudson (James Farrar).
Elsewhere, Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) does some accountancy work for the Panesars’ business portfolio.
She’s confused when she finds some irregular invoices, and raises the issue with trustee Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris).
Quickly brushing them off, she has to think on her feet when Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal) and Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) come looking for answers.
Plus, there’s more trouble for Elaine when she learns that husband George (Colin Salmon) could be entitled to some of The Vic in their divorce settlement.
Is this the end of an era?
