EastEnders legend praises ‘beautiful support’ as she issues significant cancer update

EastEnders legend Heather Peace has thanked fans for their ‘beautiful support’ in an update on her cancer journey.
The Eve Unwin star revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer alongside a video that saw her being fitted for a wig behind the scenes of the BBC soap.
She spoke at the time about how this was an ‘important part’ of her journey, explaining that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2024.
She went on to reveal that she was ‘forever changed’ by the diagnosis, writing: ‘During this time I’ve narrowed my world. I’ve had the most precious time with my wife Ellie and our 3 girls; Annie, Jessie & Lola.
‘Just trying to appreciate every moment of them. I’ve stayed still. I’ve found joy in the simplest of things. Interactions with others have felt honest and real because I’ve had no capacity for small talk. It has felt like such a personal shift. There have been so many positives.’
The actress has been undergoing treatment for her illness, and recently took to Instagram to reveal that she had finished her radiotherapy treatment.

‘Final round of 15 radio therapy sessions just completed,’ she wrote, alongside a selfie.
‘This marks the end of a long 9 months of diagnosis, surgery, chemo and radiation.
‘Time to piece myself back together. Thanks for the beautiful support.’

Earlier this year, Heather also opened up about how wife Ellie received the same diagnosis months earlier than her own.
‘Her breast cancer was a smaller, aggressive lump, so she had a lumpectomy and then radiotherapy’, Heather explained in an interview with the Mirror.
‘Of course then I come along with my 12 cm lump, absolutely ginormous, and mastectomy, chemotherapy, just about to go into radiotherapy. She’s like, “even that you have to do bigger”. It’s like, “hold my beer”.’
